In fact, when going on a trip, I like to make sure that someone’s mother is with me; they’re guaranteed to have brought along whatever I was too self-absorbed/lazy to pack for myself.
I’ve gotten my bag down to the simple stuff – kleenex, headache medicine, laptop, kindle, train pass, keys, book. But I have the luxury of not actually having to be prepared for anyone more than myself. If I need lotion, it’s my own fault for not being prepared.
That is true. I must have always had the over-packing/be prepared instinct thought. During a summer workshop when I was in middle school, I remember the other students being surprised that I had nearly anything anyone asked for including resealable plastic bags, two screwdrivers and medical tape. Goodness only knows what I was planning.
If you ever need a spare “My Phone Face” button or a picture of my youngest from five years ago, let me know – they’re in my purse!
