Lingering in Summer

August 18, 2014

The air changed last week and now there is just a hint of fall on the breeze. The extra blanket is pulled up a little tighter around me in the mornings. Night claims more and more minutes.

Not yet! My heart isn’t ready for the turn although I know it can’t be helped. I sit longer in the sunshine and try to store up light and warmth.  The tomatoes fresh from the garden overflow our cupped hands and fill kitchen windowsills. I try to see and know every blossom.  Summer still.
